Cycling for stress relief

Daniel N. Love

So you’re stressed out. You’ve done everything you normally do to help yourself, but this time what generally works for you isn’t working. Time to think out side of the box. What about cycling? Studies show that physical activity, which cycling is, helps to boost the firing of endorphins, and the production of serotonin and dopamine. You know, the happy hormones. In fact,”Study after study has shown that regular physical activity helps prevent or relieve stress, anxiety and depression. One study focused on people with depression that was being treated with antidepressants. After pedaling a stationary bike for just 15 minutes, their level of cortisol, a stress hormone, declined.” (Linda Wasmer Andrews)
So, whether it be a road bike or a stationary, there are benefits waiting to be had.
