Quality DOES exist in Online Education

diane-goldsmithPlease read this WCET post by Diana Goldsmith of the CT Distance Learning Consortium. In the post, she makes a strong case for the efforts colleges have made to support and improve online quality through organizations such as Quality Matters (http://www.qualitymatters.org). Here at BCC, we have used QM as the basis for our “Teaching Online” pedagogy course for new online instructions. Other institutions have chosen to implement the full QM peer review system, which is rigorous, complete, and very helpful to the online instructor. Goldsmith cites several positive assessments of online learning from the literature – it’s about time!
