DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SERVICES

The City of Pittsfield is seeking qualified applicants for the Commissioner of Public Services position. This position provides administrative and engineering oversight in the establishment of policies and procedures, to ensure the effective operation of the municipal street and highway system, public grounds, vehicle service, garage, and other public works functions. The Commissioner manages a staff of 45+ employees. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: operation of streets, bridges, traffic signals, sidewalks and related structures; establishment of policies & regulations within which the public works, and maintains direct control over budget expenditures & accounts of the Department of Public Services.
The desired candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration; Public Administration; Engineering; or closely related field, and must have at least five (5) years’ of senior management experience with a proven record of multi-departmental collaboration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The position requires availability 24 hours a day to respond to emergency and constituent calls.
Salary: $85,209
