Overview:

Under general direction, the Sr. Compensation & Benefits Analyst is responsible for the analysis, implementation, administration, processing, and compliance of all assigned employee benefits plans and base pay and incentive compensation for Crane’s U.S.-based employees.  Assists in the development of the annual benefits and compensation strategy to deliver competitive and cost-effective benefits and compensation programs, including, but not limited to: Base pay structures, skill-based pay, annual merit programs, and short and long-term incentive plans;  Health and welfare programs, group insurance programs, leave of absence administration, and wellness at work programming.

Responsibilities:

Benefits: 

  • Responsible for the day-to-day administration of the qualified and non-qualified defined benefit and defined contribution retirement plans
  • Assists management with benefit plan design changes, cost-modeling, budgeting, communication, and employee education
  • Assists the 401(k) plan record-keeper with compliance testing, reporting, and auditing to ensure accurate and timely plan administration and reporting in accordance with IRS and DOL requirements
  • Participates in education of participants in retirement plans, hosting workshops, meetings and one-on-one sessions on site to increase employee awareness of benefits
  • Participates in select market-based and industry specific benefits surveys
  • Serves as a liaison between employees and benefit providers to answer questions, resolve issues, and ensure employee understanding of welfare, leave-of-absence, wellness, employee assistance plan, and other benefit programs
  • Manages the annual benefits open enrollment process for active employees and retirees.
  • Requests benefit estimates and reviews pension calculations for all qualified defined benefit plans; conducts pre-retirement and retirement interviews to secure retirement benefit elections
  • Assists in the gathering of data and analysis in preparation for various compliance filings, reporting and notice requirements governed by the IRS, DOL, and other governing bodies and assists in the preparation of the annual Form 5500s for all benefits plans
  • Works in conjunction with the Payroll staff gathering data and preparing reports for bi-weekly loan updates, 401(k) deferral updates, qualified and non-qualified contribution files and uploads
  • Monitors federal and state regulations concerning benefits administration to ensure compliance with legal requirements

Compensation:

  • Conducts research and performs analysis on compensation programs.  Participates in salary surveys and analyzes the survey results to determine the competitiveness of the company’s total compensation program
  • Assists in the design, cost modeling, planning, budgeting and administration of compensation and other programs
  • Participates in select market-based and industry specific salary surveys
  • Administers base and incentive compensation programs, including annual salary planning, merit increase process, and bonus administration; partners with Payroll staff to ensure timely and accurate payments
  • Conducts job analyses, including job content interviews, evaluation, internal comparison and external survey. Recommends appropriate job slotting in ranges or adjustments consistent with objectives regarding internal equity and external competitiveness
  • Assists in the preparation of the salary grade structure. Implements approved modifications to the structure, as necessary, to ensure a competitive position in national and regional labor markets
  • Develops and delivers communications for all employee compensation and benefit programs, including preparation of total rewards statements, new hire benefit orientation, and drafting and distributing employee communication materials

Other: 

  • Participates in special projects as assigned and assists in all other areas of Human Resources Operations as needed
  • Occasional overnight travel to other U.S. worksite locations required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training and job experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years progressive experience in pension administration, wage/salary administration, job analysis and/or employee benefits administration in a complex, multi-division company
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) and/or Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) designation highly desirable
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to build, read, analyze, and interpret complex reports and data and apply knowledge to identify appropriate solutions; ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office applications – specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint to support the ongoing management and administration of benefits and compensation programs
  • Knowledge in benefits and compensation administration and related laws and regulations, including but not limited to ERISA, HIPAA, ADA, COBRA, EEO, and FLSA
  • In-depth technical knowledge of benefit plans and compensation programs coupled with a strong customer focus to provide first call resolution to issues, problems, and inquiries
  • Superior time management and project management skills
  • Ability to collaborate with others and build trust and credibility and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong written and interpersonal skills with the ability to present complex material to employees as well as mid- and senior-level management
  • Working knowledge of ADP Payroll, HRB, iCIMS and Kronos preferred
  • Ability to pass and maintain security clearance through the U.S. Treasury Dept.
