This highly visible position will work within a dynamic, accountable and innovative Global Supply Chain team and manage all aspects of the company’s global import/export, warehouse, terminal, and logistics procurement responsibilities. The role will focus on improving logistics performance in cost, service, capacity, and compliance across all business units.  This position will also be responsible for developing and executing mode procurement strategies, negotiating contracts, managing core supplier relationships, leading supplier implementations, and monitoring supplier performance.  Scope includes Import/Export, Warehouse, Terminal, Bulk Vessel, Air Freight, Export Freight Forwarders, Custom Brokers, Package Warehouse, and Liquid Bulk Terminal.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs supplier selection, contract negotiation and implementation through strategic sourcing process. Upon implementation, actively manages vendor contracts and proactively identifies opportunities for improvement
  • Identifies and builds strategic alliances with key suppliers
  • Drives logistics initiatives to enable and deliver productivity improvement
  • Translates strategic direction into operating plans that focus on results
  • Develops and presents procurement plans to meet critical business goals
  • Develops and implements the procurement policies, procedures and workflow
  • Supports the day-to-day logistics procurement issues escalated by the business units and multiple ship site locations
  • Leads business unit infrastructure initiatives including mode conversion and  trans load development
  • Provides guidance to business units on industry trends and other gathered intelligence
  • Develops and conducts expert import and export training as required for company employees and third party providers
  • Works closely with raw material commodity owners on inbound activities, business unit supply chain and commercial leaders on outbound activities, and with corporate functional leaders on process improvements
  • Sets and standardizes best in-class practices across the Enterprise and issues metrics to measure performance and accountability
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Logistics, International Business, Engineering, or Finance
  • MBA preferred
  • Lead Six Sigma or Process Improvement training and/or experience preferred
  • Proficiency with all MS Office applications
  • JD Edwards knowledge preferred
  • 5 years of relevant import/export, warehouse, terminal, logistics procurement experience including operations management, planning, logistics, and procurement
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in global trade including managing and maintaining customs compliance procedures, soliciting and securing import & export shipments to and from the U.S., as well as multi-country shipments, and managing delivery schedules to support customer requirements
  • Experience with chemical industry products and services including Hazardous Materials shipping
  • Third Party Logistics (3PL) or transportation carrier experience preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of supply chain technologies including ERP, data warehouse, and transportation management systems
  • Demonstrated ability to stay current with and accurately interpret industry trends
  • Analytical, understanding of technical and financial data including the use of metrics to demonstrate performance
  • Ability to effectively communicate both in writing and verbally
  • Highly analytical, self-motivated with a high degree of business and personal integrity
  • Demonstrated understanding of basic project management techniques
  • Experience working in matrix organization
  • Negotiating skills
  • Willingness to travel up to 15% of time
  • Ability to pass and maintain security clearance through the Bureau of Engraving & Printing
