Berkshire County Forecast – Friday, October 28

The following forecast is provided Megan Brady, in conjunction with theĀ  instructor, as part of lab work for the Introduction to Meteorology course:

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the potential for greater than 7 inches of snow Saturday afternoon and Saturday night. The snow will be heavy and wet and many trees still have their leaves. Therefore, there is potential for falling limbs and extensive power outages.

Friday

Mostly sunny and cold for this time of year.

High temperature in the low 40s.

West-northwest wind at 5-15 miles per hour.

Friday Night

Clear early with increasing clouds after midnight.

Low temperature in the mid to upper 20s.

Wind becoming calm.

Saturday

Snow developing in the afternoon. Probability of precipitation 90%. Snow accumulations 2-4 inches by nightfall with the greater amounts in the higher elevations.

High temperatures in the mid to upper 30s.

Northeast wind increasing to 10-15 miles per hour in the afternoon.

Saturday Night

Snow, heavy at times, tapering off after midnight. Total accumulation will likely be in the 8-12 inch range, with more than a foot possible, particularly over the higher terrain.

Temperatures falling into the upper 20s.

Winds northeast shifting to northwest at 10-15 miles per hour with some higher gusts.

Sunday

Cloudy in the early morning with decreasing clouds over the course of the day. Becoming partly cloudy by afternoon.

High temperature in the mid to upper 30s.

Gusty northwest wind at 10-20 mph.
