Two assistants will work as a team to remove emerging populations of invasive water chestnut throughout the length of the Assabet River. This is a key intervention to prevent the spread of this plant in the watershed. The assistants will be trained to locate, remove and dispose of the plants, and will work primarily on the water from a canoe.
Qualifications:
Ability to work with the public in a professional manner; ability to work with minimal supervision and in a team; a valid driver’s license; experience in canoeing or kayaking during inclement weather (strong wind, rain); and enthusiasm for outdoor work. Past experience in plant identification; map reading; and interest in botany, wildlife, ecology, or related fields, and vehicle that can transport a canoe are preferred. Must be able to lift a canoe overhead and be at least 18 years of age.
Employment Details:
These are part-time paid positions. Up to 150 hours from June 20- August 5. May include some weekend days.
