The Art Show will be held June 19 through July 10 at the Koussevitzky Art Gallery at BCC. An opening reception will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on June 19.
Information:
A $500 award will be given for the winning entry. In addition, the painting will be hung permanently in BCC’s Jonathan Edwards Library to commemorate the College Club’s centennial. Honorable mention awards will be given to a BCC student as well as a BCC graduate.
According to College Club President Roberta Passenant, “The Art Show is a way for us to share our centennial with the Berkshire County community. Placing the winning painting in the BCC library commemorates women’s growth over the past hundred years and provides a permanent memory of the College Club Centennial.”

BCC’s Journal of Student Visual Art and Creative Writing (Zine) celebration

On Wednesday the 22nd at 1:30 in library (first floor in the back), there will be a launch celebration for the 2015 issue of Zine (BCC’s journal of student visual art and creative writing), which is hot off the presses and en route from the printer.

Like last year, there will be available free copies of the journal, snacks, a slideshow of student visual art, and a reading given by several of our student writers.

Creative work presented by English faculty Neil McCabe, Matt Muller and Julianna Spallholz

On Tuesday the 21st at 12:15 in the SBA Lounge, English faculty Nell McCabe, Matt Muller, and I will read from our creative work.  I’m not sure precisely what Nell and Matt have up their sleeves, but I DO know that they’ve both been working on novels (and that Matt is also a poet).  I will be reading very short fiction, probably some older, probably some newer.  The reading will count for Forum credit.

Professors Brain Trautman and Don Lathrop will be presenting “Non-Proliferation and a Nuclear Free World”

A program titled Non-Proliferation and a Nuclear Free World will be presented by professors Brian Trautman and Don Lathrop April 21, 2015 in the Johnathan Library at 12:15.

Free and open to the public, refreshments are provided – Bartletts’ donuts, cider, apples, cheeses and more. -(Thank you, Karen Carreras-Hubbard)

Since late March, the library has been commemorating the upcoming 70th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and the April 24-26th Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference, with a powerful 40-poster exhibit and book display. The posters and display will be up for one more week- don’t miss it!
