Finance Clerk at Berkshire United Way – Part Time

POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Finance Clerk

REPORTS TO: Finance Associate

SUMMARY OF POSITION: Staff person assigned to finance department with primary responsibility for entering pledges and receipts into the agency donor software system.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AREAS:

Leadership Responsibilities
• Understands the information needs within the organization to ensure consistent, reliable information. Develop understanding of how transaction processing impacts other departments within the organization.
• Attends appropriate meetings, seminars and events.

Finance Responsibilities
• Assists with daily deposit processing
• Enter accounts payable invoices into MIP Accounting Software
• Maintain grant expenditure documentation

Campaign Specific Accounts Receivable
• Records pledge payments and determines applicable year of each payment. Accurately enters pledges and donations with strict attention to donor-directed designations and acknowledgement wishes.
• Recognizes and resolves issues such as duplicate accounts, charities not in system, etc.
• Communicates directly with payroll departments of workplace campaigns to ensure accurate and timely donor detail is available for entry against pledges.

Support
• General office and clerical duties including phone calls and filing

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High School degree required

Experience: Background in accounting or bookkeeping preferred
Knowledge/Skills:

• Working knowledge of accounts receivable and accounts payable
• Familiarity with general ledger transactions
• Strong computer database management skills
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Outlook
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Ability to organize and maintain office filing systems
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast paced, changing environment both independently and as part of a team
• Ability to represent the organization in a professional and congenial manner
