Field Service Engineer at Nalco – Full Time – Dalton

Job Overview:

Our Krofta location manufactures, designs, engineers, and installs water and wastewater equipment systems globally.  This position is primarily a “hands on role,” where you will be responsible for maintaining, operating, start-up of pilot trial wastewater treatment equipment within food & Beverage, manufacturing and pulp & paper industries.  This will involve the completion of agreed upon contractual services and providing customers with problem solving support.

Location & Travel Information:

This position involves 75% overnight travel, involving 2-3 weeks away from home each month (work expenses covered by Nalco).  Locations with primarily be within North America (US & Canada).  Applicants with easy access to airports in Springfield, MA or Albany, NY will find this convenient for the travelling.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensures safe execution and delivery of all service and operations;
  • Perform general preventative maintenance on equipment;
  • Collecting water samples & performing lab analysis to ensure equipment is running at optimal levels
  • Perform set-up, Installation of pilot equipment to satisfy the needs of the customer;
  • Conduct field surveys, creating installation checklists, providing rollout support services, etc.;
  • Provide on-demand repair of customer water systems, installation, and of troubleshooting electrical systems (up to 120V);
  • Oversee daily activity and workflow for fulfillment of tasks and responsibilities and achieving demands of projects
  • Participate in design reviews, new application start-ups, and evaluations;
  • Assist in evaluating products for serviceability, performance and reliability;
  • Assess on-site field problems and operate required testing equipment to return systems to customer conformance;
  • Develop productive relationships with our customers and document value provided to the customer whenever possible;
  • Complete weekly/ monthly reports.
  • Frequent overnight travel to customer sites throughout North America.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associates degree related to Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial), or Life Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, etc.).
  • 2+ years of experience in a Field Service role involving travel;
  • 3+ years of experience with installation & commissioning of industrial equipment;
  • 3+ years of experience in repair & troubleshooting electro-mechanical applications;
  • Must possess a US Passport or have ability to obtain a US Passport;
  • 75% overnight travel required to support assigned customer accounts;
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record;
  • No immigration sponsorship offered for this role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial), or Life Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, etc.)
  • 5+ years of experience installation & commissioning of industrial equipment;
  • 5+ years plumbing experience to include running plastic & copper pipe;
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams and electrical schematics;
  • Licensed wastewater operator (current or expired);
  • Prior experience working in a wastewater treatment plant;
  • Working knowledge and/or direct experience with wastewater treatment systems;
  • Knowledge or exposure to Allen-Bradley PLCs and SCADA;
  • Experience with RO, UF, DI, Softening and control systems;
  • Strong electro-mechanical aptitude;
  • History of working in a field that required autonomy and self-motivation;
  • 5+ years of repair, troubleshooting, electro-mechanical applications;
  • Practical computer application literacy (including Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to learn internal business systems);
