The Stationery business produces elegant cotton based stationery, invitations and announcements under the William Arthur, Vera Wang and Crane & Co. brands for personal and corporate customers.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Systems Analyst is a senior level, experienced technical resource reporting to the IT Director for Crane Stationery. This position will be a key part of the technology group’s mission to support new business applications based primarily on Microsoft application development technologies.

The position will have responsibility for development and support of business-critical applications for the Stationery division. The ideal candidate will have expertise in several information technology platforms and multiple business solution portfolios.

  • Create new business applications and interfaces using VB.NET as well as other languages and technologies
  • Work with business partners to define and refine requirements
  • Produce estimates, plans, and other systems development life cycle (SDLC) documents
  • Lead business and technical teams
  • Advise and mentor peers in areas of technical expertise
  • Provide production support for the company’s application portfolio

Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Hands-on technical development in Visual Basic and .NET (VB.NET and C#)
  • Minimum of five years systems development experience including two years of project management
  • Strong Project Management skills including analysis, design, development, implementation, support and life cycle management
  • Strong fact finding, interviewing, problem solving and data analysis skills
  • Ability to lead business initiatives from concept through post implementation
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven experience in team participation
  • Ability to be self-motivated and work to fast-paced deadlines is essential
  • Willingness to become proficient in the full range of technologies within the Stationery division is a must
  • Data modeling and development experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and 2005 is required. Experience with SQL 2008 and 2012 desired
  • Experience with MS SQL2008, MS Reporting Services technologies strongly desired
  • Experience with IBM iSeries, COBOL, RPG, and JD Edwards ERP is a plus
  • Experience with Manufacturing Data Collection systems is a plus
  • Ability to pass and maintain security clearance through the United States Treasury Department.

  • Driver’s License to travel between Company locations and into the field as well as to other locations and/or seminars, using own car.

We currently have an opening for a Thermography Press Operator within the Stationery Division located in North Adams, which reports to the Manufacturing Manager.  This position is on 2nd shift (2:30 pm to 11:00 am).

Responsibilities:

  • Support requirements for production of daily orders
  • Must be able to interpret instructions on all work orders requiring engraving
  • Preventative maintenance of press, i.e., oil press and brazier daily prior to start-up, etc.
  • Must be able to follow all proper start-up steps, i.e., prepare fountain, prepare counter material for the slide, place counter slide into press, engage press for counter image, cut counter, place overlay properly, secure wooden feed board, and select correct cardboard feed board for stock item to be run
  • Press slide adjusted to attain proper and exact position of lettering on stock item and secured to assure that position remains consistent throughout the run
  • Must be able to meet quality standards for color, position, clarity of image, and all special instructions followed on work order
  • Must maintain daily maintenance of press-related materials that include changing die wipe roll and changing blanket when ink becomes caked-on or wipe is not working properly
  • Must be able to prioritize workflow daily to assure established delivery schedules are met
  • Back-up in other areas of the Department or Company as required
  • Must be able to maintain average productivity standards within Lines of Progression grade
  • Must interact in a positive manner with other employees
  • Must be able to do a line-up
  • Must be able to perform a press safety inspection
  • Use positive locking device whenever maintenance or adjustments are being made, use cut- proof gloves when cutting counters, keep area around the press clean, and change absorbent “pig sock” when it becomes saturated
  • Must be willing to move up through the lines of progression
  • Must be willing to work in any Company area or location as needed
  • Must be willing to work any shift and overtime as needed
  • Must provide and maintain a permanent phone number where you can be reached in the event of a business need
  • Adhere to Company safety policies and procedures, assuring good judgment and care are exercised for the prevention of accidents and personal injury
  • Follow the basic “Employee Responsibilities” for conduct that applies to all employees of Crane & Co., Inc.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to read, write, keep neat and accurate records, and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Experience and background in operating, adjusting, or manipulating mechanical machinery or other similar equipment
  • Responsible for demonstrating a positive attitude and self-motivation, and developing and maintaining positive interaction and communication with customers, peer, subordinates, and supervisors
  • Must have good eyesight as well as the ability to distinguish a full spectrum of colors
  • Must be willing to work any shift and overtime as needed
  • Must have maintained a good safety and attendance record with proven work performance in the past
  • Medical certification will be required to ensure the physical capabilities of job performance
