1st Class Fireperson

Crane & Co., a world leader in the production of quality papers, is seeking a 1st Class Fireperson in our Power Plant. This position is responsible for producing a continuous generation of steam by safely operating all Pioneer Power Plant equipment. Responsibilities include the starting up and shutting down of boilers, turbines, and feed-water pumps; and the clear and concise communication of events and conditions that occurred on his/her watch tour.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Ability to pass and maintain security clearance through the U. S. Treasury Department
• Must possess a valid driver’s license
• Minimum of one year experience as a licensed 1st Class Fireman
• Minimum of 2 years experience operating high-pressure boilers
• Must be able to attain a 3rd Class Engineer’s license from one year of the date of hire
• Ability to communicate to supervisor and relief person all conditions and events during watch tour and all aspects of power plant conditions
• Must possess basic math and computer skills
• Ability to work as a team
• Must be willing and able to work at any Company location as needed.
• Must be willing and able to work any shift arrangement and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Operation of three (3) high pressure boilers
• Start up and shut down of boilers and feed water pumps
• Operation of back-pressure steam turbine feed water pump
• Operation of all auxiliary plant equipment
• Ability to maintain steam production under adverse or difficult operating conditions
• Maintain written log sheets and log book, documenting all Power Plant conditions
• Maintain good housekeeping practices
• Maintain communications with Covanta Powerplant in optimum steam usage
