The newest large scale Green initiative taking place at BCC is the establishment of a plan for going Zero Waste. Zero Waste is a concept of long-term planning of campus activities, practices and policies which reduce the amount of waste materials going into the landfill through the three Rs: Reduction of use, Reuse of materials and Recycling of materials. The two primary objectives of the plan are:
- Continue Ongoing Awareness and Reflection of Waste Practices
- Manage Waste Streams of three major areas:
- Paper/Cardboard Waste
- Food and Beverage Waste
- Facilities and Grounds Waste
As we develop and implement the plan, be sure to return to this page to track progress on the campus-wide efforts related to the goal of being Zero Waste by the year 2020.
