Develop Database (Internship)

Camphill Village USA is seeking an intern to develop a database that includes politicians working at the local, state, and federal levels. The database will include term limits, committees, and legislative history relevant to adults with special needs. The finished product will be a workable document that can be used and modified by our organization.

Part of the worldwide Camphill movement, Camphill Village USA is the oldest and largest Camphill community in North America. CVUSA’s mission is to provide stable homes, meaningful work and a robust social and spiritual life for adults with developmental disabilities and the service volunteers who live and work alongside them. Camphill Village is an intentional community located in Columbia County, NY, approximately 120 miles north of NYC. The founding of CVUSA in 1961 was part of a transformative movement in the United States to reform how society treats people with disabilities. Instead of isolation and institutionalization, exclusion and separation, CVUSA celebrates and honors the uniqueness, dignity and spiritual integrity of each individual, regardless of outward appearance or perceived disability. Located on 615 acres of farmland, wooded hills and gardens, CVUSA is also a leader in biodynamic organic agriculture and sustainable farming techniques.

Internship: 135 Hours, flexible schedule

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, to following:

  • Collecting information from government web pages to identify representatives
  • Conducting research on policymakers and lobbyists
  • Produce and maintain database
  • Prepare reports & presentations for internal use
  •  Maintain donor files and other development materials
  • Attend department and staff meetings

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong writing and research abilities
  • Desire to learn more about government and policy
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google applications
  • Experience with databases is a plus
  • Good interpersonal skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work well with office staff, as well as adults with special needs
