Berkshire County Forecast – Wednesday, Dec. 14

The following forecast is provided by Tiffanie Tomashek, in conjunction with theĀ  instructor, as part of lab work for the Introduction to Meteorology course:

Summary: Our nice weather will be coming to an end as high pressure, which has dominated our weather for the past several days, moves offshore, making way for a low pressure system over the Great Plains to head our way. The storm and most of its energy and precipitation will pass well to our north but it will drag its associated warm front over us tonight and then its cold front will pass on Thursday afternoon. As a result, the weather will become overcast tonight and for the subsequent 24 hours. There is a chance of a brief period of rain mixed with sleet and snow around midnight tonight as the warm front moves through and then rain more likely Thursday afternoon with the passage of the cold front. It will then turn windy and colder on Thursday night and Friday as colder air from Canada moves in behind the front.

Wednesday

Partly cloudy.

High temperature near 40 in the hilltowns, with low to mid 40s elsewhere.

West winds at 5-10 mph.

Wednesday Night

Low temperature in the low to mid 30s.

High temperature in the mid 40s.

Southwest winds at 10-20 mph.

Thursday Night

Mostly cloudy with a chance of scattered rain showers turning to snow showers after midnight. Little or no accumulation. Probability of precipitation 40%.
