The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) is the nation’s record keeper. Of all documents and materials created in the course of business conducted by the United States Federal government, only 1%-3% are so important for legal or historical reasons that they are kept forever. The NARA mission is to provide public access to Federal Government records in their custody and control. Public access to government records strengthens democracy by allowing Americans to claim their rights of citizenship, hold their government accountable, and understand their history so they can participate more effectively in their government.

NARA is in need of Material Handlers to remove records from the Federal Records Center shelving and stack them on pallets for disposal.

Responsibilities:

  • Locate containers
  • Remove containers from shelving, check for missing and/or charged out containers, and empty locations immediately
  • Place containers on streamliners in order, facing the same direction and with transfer numbers visible
  • Initial report and hand over documentation
  • Move records to Designated Disposal Review Area
  • Stack the records on pallet(s)

 

Qualifications:

  • High School graduate or GED equivalent
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Warehouse experience desired
  • Must be able to lift boxes up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to climb ladders to reach shelving up to 14 feet high

Required Skills:

  • Basic level of understanding of routing and switching technologies
  • Experience with Cisco Systems’ routing and switching platforms preferred
  • Experience implementing and supporting enterprise wireless solutions preferred
  •  2 to 5 years of hands-on experience working with networking technologies or equivalent coursework
  •  Strong analytical skills and solid written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and a strong desire to learn

Buildings and Grounds Manager

MASS MoCa seals applicants for buildings and Grounds Manager. This position reports to the Deputy Director and will plan, organize and direct the operations, maintenance, and repair of buildings and building systems on the MASS MoCa campus and satellite properties.

Responsibilities:

  • Directing and coordinating the Buildings and Grounds, Custodial, and Security Departments.
  • Managing, supervising, and motivating staff
  • Managing the operation, maintenance, and replacement of building systems
  • Managing facilities to save energy and preserve buildings
  • Ensuring the MASS MoCa saferty program and goals are carried out in compliance with all requirements
  • Maintaining a fiscally responsible Buildings and Grounds budget
  • Materials purchasing and inventory control
  • Reviewing, directing, and authorizing contractural work
  • Coordinating staff work with museum exhibitions and performing arts productions
  • Maintaining commercial tenant spaces and supervising custodial services

Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in Public Administration, Facilities Managments, or and related field, and at least three (3) years experience in supervising or managing a full-service facilities operations program; or at least five (5) years experience in facilities management in a complex with comparable scale and complexity
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of facilities management and maintenance
  • Good understanding of laws and regulations governing building codes
  • Massachusetts Construction Supervisor’s License is preferred
  • Ability to use basic computer office applications
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and sketches
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers, advisory board personnel, government officials, and the public

Seasonal assistant Manager

MASS MoCA’s retail store is seeking a Seasonal Assistant Manager. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Opening and closing stores, operating cash registers, and cheerfully interacting with customers
  • Handling,counting cash and making regular bank deposits
  • Monitoring and maintaining an accurate inventor, including receiving new items
  • Receiving, packing and shipping online and phone orders
  • Scheduling staff for two brick and mortor locations
  • Training all new sales associates
  • The position will requires 40 hours per week, sometimes more, and requires a flexible schedule, including availability on weekends, some evenings and occasional holidays. It also requires a friendly, polite disposition in addition to self-motivation and initiative. Customer service experience is preferred. This is a seasonal position through Labor Day 2015, with the potential to continue long-term, tbd.

AmeriCorps Mentor Network Coordinator

BCF’s Family Resource Center seeks a Highland Street AmeriCorps Ambassador of Mentoring. A newly developed Mentor Network, which will serve as a resource for the community including other mentoring organizations as well as potential mentors and mentees, will be embedded in the Family Resource Center. Specifically, the Coordinator will assist with program development and mentor recruitment and marketing.

The goals of the program will be to

  1. identify and publicize existing mentoring efforts in Berkshire County;
  2. develop an application, screening and training process;
  3. implement a recruiting and marketing campaign for mentoring.

This full time position (August 2015 – June 2016) will receive a monthly stipend plus funds for school loans in accordance with AmeriCorps agreement.
