The Nantucket Massachusetts Police Department is requesting your assistance in recruiting suitable persons for the position of Reserve Police Officer for the 2016 Summer Season. In order to qualify for a Reserve Police Officer position you must have previously COMPLETED an approved Basic Reserve/ Intermittent Police Academy.

Reserve Police Officers are armed and perform a variety of duties and services in support of basic police operations and functions. Reserve Police officers are generally assigned to bicycle or foot patrol and are scheduled to work day and night shifts. Reserve Officers are required to purchase their own uniforms to Department specifications. The Department does provide duty belts and other duty equipment other than basic uniform apparel. The starting hourly rate for Reserve’s is $18.00 per hour. Housing for the summer is available for $95.00 per week.

The hiring process consists of a criminal background check, oral interview and a physical examination. The interviews are scheduled to occur April 2 & 3, 2016. For successful applicants, there will be a training program scheduled to start on June 6, 2016 and then employment will continue through Labor Day.
