SENIOR SANITARIAN
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH
The City of Pittsfield’s Health Department is seeking an experienced Sanitarian to perform and oversee various inspectional services. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: performing inspections to determine and ensure compliance with the State Sanitary Codes and local public health regulations in the areas of food establishments and events, housing, water monitoring, recreational camps for children, pools, septic systems, lead, and tobacco; provides supervision to department health inspectors and necessary administrative duties; makes determination of permit applications; and conducts plan reviews.
Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor Degree in Environmental Science or related degree; three years’ experience as a Sanitarian, sanitary engineer, or related field with supervisory experience. Candidates must already be certified in food safety, pool operator, Title V septic and have experience in housing/code enforcement and water sampling; lead determination and soil evaluation certification a plus. Candidate must have knowledge of permitting and licensing regulations. A valid MA State driver’s license is required.
35 Hours per week, 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Salary: $41,984 – $44,098 annually
