Job Title: Polymer Composites Test Technician – Physical/Mechanical Testing

Location: Pittsfield, MA

The opportunity has arisen for a Composites Test Technician to join this global organization which respects diverse perspectives, experiences and traditions as essential and values each employee’s contribution toward achieving our business objectives. Reporting to the Composites Engineer you will provide quality driven, customer centric support to the laboratory as a Composites Test Technician performing physical and mechanical property tests on plastics, composites, and other polymeric materials. This position is key to meeting our goal of providing 100% customer satisfaction with zero defects.

In this position, you will be responsible for the following:

 

  • Performing physical/mechanical property testing according to industry standard test methods and non-standard customer specific requests.
  • Utilize advanced instrumentation and associated software to generate test results
  • Write detailed reports of the results of tests performed according to Intertek reporting requirements.
  • Maintain instruments related to the physical/mechanical testing of plastics and Composites.
  • Actively participate in the Quality of the test results through proofing of other technicians reports as part of delivering an error free product.

 

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications (only candidates that meet the following criteria will be considered):

  • AS degree or higher in science or related work experience.
  • Knowledge of mechanical/physical testing related to plastic and composite materials to include Tensile, Flexural, Compression, Impact, strain gage application, and the associated ASTM and ISO test methods is preferred.
  • Excellent organization/multitasking, communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize, organize, and follow through on multiple tasks.
  • Ability to interact externally with clients/prospects, and internally with other departments to ensure complete customer satisfaction and timely response
  • Excellent computer skills (Windows, MS Office)
  • Must be self-motivated and detail oriented
  • Ability to learn and work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking, client oriented environment
