Since 2021, interdisciplinary groups of BCC faculty have collaborated to develop course-level learning outcomes, assignments, and activities, and share open-educational resources and materials for LAR-101: Introduction to Liberal Arts, and LAR-285: Liberal Arts Capstone.

Nell McCabe | Associate Professor of English | Liberal Arts Program AdvisorNell teaches composition, literature, and creative writing at Berkshire Community College. An alum of BCC, she holds a master’s degree in Creative Writing-Fiction from the University of Missouri-Columbia. When not working on her perpetually-in-progress novel, she channels her creative energy into finding innovative ways to engage and support her students as they strive to become stronger readers, writers, thinkers, and citizens of the world. Matthew Müller | Interim Dean of Humanities, Social and Behavioral SciencesMatthew teaches composition, literature and creative writing at BCC. He earned his bachelors in creative writing and literature from Emerson College in Boston, Mass, and holds an MFA from Warren Wilson College’s MFA Program for Writers in Asheville, North Carolina. Matthew is originally from Germany, grew up on the west coast, and has called Pittsfield home for the past decade. Chris Laney | Professor of History | Honors Scholar Program CoordinatorChris Laney earned his M.A. in History from Missouri State University, and has taught at Berkshire Community College since 2004. He is the Coordinator of the Berkshire Honors Scholar Program, and teaches a range of courses including World History, World Geography, US History, The World Since 1945, World War II, and Conspiracy Theories in American History.
