DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (THE FOLLOWING EXAMPLES ARE INTENDED ONLY AS AN ILLUSTRATION OF THE VARIOUS KINDS OF WORK PERFORMED)

• holes, trenches and other excavations; shoveling materials and leveling areas
• cleaning out sewers and catch basins
• loading & unloading supplies, moving furniture
• cleaning litter & debris from streets, runways, parking lots
• assist in placing and holding heavy items such as pipes, valves & other equipment
• mowing grass using either hand or powered equipment, trimming shrubs & lower parts of trees along sidewalks & highways
• removing snow & ice using manual or small powered equipment, spreading sand on icy areas

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Ability to understand written and oral instructions, and communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to handle tools as required.
• Physical agility, strength and endurance sufficient to perform heavy manual labor under inclement weather conditions, in restricted or confined environments, and in elevated areas.
• Ability to enter access ways 24 inches in diameter.
• Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License
