Program Summary:

Follett’s Retail Management Internship Program provides talented, business-minded college students with a 10 week, hands-on learning experience for Spring 2016. Throughout the semester, interns have an opportunity to work alongside Follett’s bookstore leaders in a world-class retail environment. Each week, interns focus on a different aspect of store operations while simultaneously participating in activities and projects that contribute to their professional and personal development. Follett’s interns are paid hourly, work Part-Time (15-20 hours per week), receive an employee discount on campus store purchases and must complete pre-employment background check process. Follett has an excellent track record of identifying talented individuals in our own backyard. Upon college graduation, student interns may elect to go on to our Management Training Program, which fast tracks into a career in retail management

Job Description:

As a member of the store operations team, you will perform a variety of responsibilities that will include, but are not limited to:

* Provide support to store leadership team while learning all aspects of store management, including course materials management, associate development, loss prevention, shipping and receiving, merchandising, and customer service
* Offer outstanding customer service to internal and external customers
* Work effectively in a team environment while demonstrating the ability to work independently
* Prepare and present a defined special project to all levels of management

Minimum Qualifications:

* Currently enrolled at Berkshire Community College with an anticipated graduation between May 2016 – May 2017
* GPA of 3.0/4.0 or above
* All majors are welcome to apply; business related curriculum is preferred.
* Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to identify and solve problems
* Strong computer proficiencies in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint with the ability to efficiently learn new technologies
* Excellent customer service acumen
* Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
* Superior verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to work as part of a team and independently
* Previous retail experience strongly preferred

Part-Time Summer Internship/Job

Interpreter at Hancock Shaker Village – Bring the Shaker story to life for our diverse audience of visitors with talks, tours, and hands-on demonstrations. Applicants must have excellent interpersonal skills, have experience with and enjoy public speaking, and work well independently and as part of a team.  Background in history, architecture, religion, and/or material culture a plus. Training and support provided. Pay is $10/hour, Flexible schedule, with some weekends and holidays required. Village is open April – October, with limited guided tours in November and early December.

Required Skills

Education, Training, and Experience

Bachelor’s degree with five years related experience OR Master’s degree in human service field and three years related experience. Demonstrated fluency in ASL and familiarity in deaf culture required.

Must have a valid driver’s license, three years driving experience, acceptable driving record, the use of a vehicle, and the willingness to transport program participants in a personal and/or agency vehicle. Desire to do meaningful work and make a difference in someone’s life a must. Fluency in Spanish desired. Blingual/Bicultural experience is an asset
