Our Residential Services program is expanding and we have several new opportunities including Homelife Support Counselor (“HLSC”). The HLSC works closely with a 3-4 individuals with acquired or traumatic brain injury in a group home setting. The HLSC assists individuals in all areas of daily living including personal care, housekeeping, cooking, and recreational activities.

This is a wonderful opportunity to work in a pleasant home environment and to have a positive impact on the people supported. With the help of the HLSC, individuals are able to live independently with a higher quality of life than in a skilled nursing facility. BFAIR provides full 40 hour training program for all HLSC’s.

Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age or older, have a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license with ready access to an automobile. Applicants with 2 or more years working in direct care roles and/or with the elderly or disabled are preferred.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

The LPN works closely with a 3-4 individuals with acquired or traumatic brain injury in a group home setting. The LPN provides various supports and medical treatment outside the scope of responsibilities of direct care staff. This is a wonderful opportunity to utilize nursing skills and to have a positive impact on the people supported and to help enable them to live independently and to meet their own personal goals. BFAIR provides full 40 hour training program for all LPN’s.

Qualifications: Must be fully licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Nursing as an LPN. Two years’ experience working with the elderly or disabled population is preferred. Ready access to an automobile and a valid driver’s license is also required. Pre-employment physical and TB testing are required for this position. During the course of employment TB testing will be required every 2 years. Driving record checks are conducted annually.

Security Position(s) at a Retail Outlet

Community Support Coordinator for Deaf Services (American Sign Language required)

The Community Support Coordinator provides outreach services to individuals with disabilities. S/he assists individuals in daily living skills to achieve greater independence and self-fulfillment. Desire to do meaningful work and make a difference in someone’s life a must. $15.75 per hour, 37.5 hours/week, includes evenings and weekends.

Required Skills

The ideal candidate must possess strong communication skills both oral and written. Ability to work independently in a team environment, and be flexible to meet program needs. Ability to teach individuals daily living skills. Knowledge of and respect for diverse populations is required. Fluency in American Sign Language and familiarity in deaf culture required.

Education, Training, and Experience

High School diploma plus three years related experience and/or training OR Associate’s degree plus one year related experience. Demonstrated basic understanding and in use of computers to include Microsoft Word, data entry, email, and internet.

Other Requirements

Must have a valid driver’s license, three years driving experience, acceptable driving record, the use of a vehicle, and the willingness to transport program participants in a personal vehicle.

Counselor – Marilyn Hamilton Summer Reading Program, Literacy-Sports Program

Are you passionate about working with children?  Then join the Pittsfield area’s only Summer Literacy-Sports Program. We are seeking talented and qualified individuals with strong leadership and communication skills who are comfortable interacting with and supervising a diverse group of children ranging 7-14 years old.

Duties & Responsibilities:

* Responsible for the safety and care of an assigned group of 6-10 campers during the camp day
* Assist with the supervision of campers while engaged in daily scheduled activities
* Actively participate in the implementation of program activities for campers and make suggestions for improvement when necessary
* Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities
* Be a role model to campers and staff by maintaining a positive attitude at all times
* Adhere to camp policies and procedures and operate activities in a safe manner
* Address parent concerns and questions promptly and appropriately; informing the Site Director
* Attend required staff meetings and camp training

Qualifications, Skills and Traits:

* High School Diploma
* Experience working with youth in a school, camp or recreational setting
* Ability to interact with children of  various age levels
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to communicate information clearly
