Counselor – Marilyn Hamilton Summer Reading Program, Literacy-Sports Program

Are you passionate about working with children?  Then join the Pittsfield area’s only Summer Literacy-Sports Program. We are seeking talented and qualified individuals with strong leadership and communication skills who are comfortable interacting with and supervising a diverse group of children ranging 7-14 years old.

Duties & Responsibilities:

* Responsible for the safety and care of an assigned group of 6-10 campers during the camp day
* Assist with the supervision of campers while engaged in daily scheduled activities
* Actively participate in the implementation of program activities for campers and make suggestions for improvement when necessary
* Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities
* Be a role model to campers and staff by maintaining a positive attitude at all times
* Adhere to camp policies and procedures and operate activities in a safe manner
* Address parent concerns and questions promptly and appropriately; informing the Site Director
* Attend required staff meetings and camp training

Qualifications, Skills and Traits:

* High School Diploma
* Experience working with youth in a school, camp or recreational setting
* Ability to interact with children of  various age levels
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to communicate information clearly
* Organized, responsible and patient with desire to provide support and encouragement to children while assisting them with improving their reading skills and participating in fun physical activities
* Team player, professional, respectful of  people from diverse backgrounds
* Ability to make sound judgment and decisions
* Positive attitude, upbeat and high energy
* Ability to commit to the scheduled hours of the program
