Wildstone Farm – Seasonal

Location: Pownal, VT

Since 1989, Wildstone Farm has produced certified organic vegetables, making us the oldest certified organic farm in Bennington County, Vermont.  At an elevation of 1,400 feet, our 21 acre farm is a mix of silt loam prime agricultural soil and second growth forest.  We practice deep organic techniques in our intensively managed gardens.  The use of high tunnels and a root cellar allows our produce to be available year round.

We operate a biologically intensive year round market garden in Southwestern Vermont. We are seeking someone willing to do hard, yet rewarding work from May-late November. 40 hours per week with Saturday’s required. You don’t need to have prior experience, but we hope you have a genuine interest in learning, working hard, and contributing to our local food economy. Please share if you or anyone you know are interested! Two fun dogs and two knowledgeable farmers would be happy to meet you!

Responsibilities:

  • Harvest and prep produce for Tuesday and Saturday Markets and CSA shares
  • Helping at markets
  • Preparing garden beds, transplanting, weeding, watering
  • Hauling things and produce where they are needed
  • Feeding the chickens
  • Learning how we farm with minimal fossil fuel use and with a gravity fed water system
  • Being open to learning new things and making a connection to the land
  • Getting dirt under your fingernails and working in a variety of weather conditions 
  • Being part of a team, yet able to work independently often
  • Having fun!

Compensation:

  • Pay based on experience and ability.  Base rate is $9.25 per hour.  There is a training period which can last up to 4 weeks after which we adjust pay to reflect new skills and experience

Thermography Press Operator

Crane is hiring! We’re looking for a Thermography Press Operator to join our Stationery team, based in North Adams, MA.  This position is on the 2nd shift (2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.).  We look for bright, hard-working people who want to be a part of a world-class organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Support requirements for thermography of daily production orders
  • Interpret instructions on all work orders requiring thermography
  • Preventative maintenance of press, i.e., oiling of press and brazier, grease press and daily cleaning
  • Must follow all proper start-up steps in daily operation
  • Press must be adjusted to attain proper and exact position on stock item and secured to assure that position remains consistent throughout the press run
  • Quality standards are met for color, position, clarity of image and all special instructions followed on work order
  • Must be able to maintain average productivity standards
  • Must be capable of doing a basic line-up
  • Must interact with other employees in a positive manner
  • Using positive locking device whenever maintenance or adjustments are being made, goggles when dispensing chemicals used in daily operation and maintenance
  • Must be willing to work in any Company area or location as needed
  • Must be willing to work any shift and overtime as needed

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read a ruler
  • Experience and background in operating, adjusting, or manipulating mechanical machinery or other similar equipment

Supply Chain Coordinator

Crane is hiring! We’re looking for a Supply Chain Coordinator to join our Stationery Division, based in North Adams, MA.  We look for bright, hard-working and team oriented people who want to be a part of a world-class organization.

This position of Supply Chain Coordinator will provide a range of support services to the central and extended supply chain group, including assistance with multiple projects as well as assigned areas of personal responsibility.  To be successful, the selected candidate will draw upon their familiarity with common concepts, practices and procedures related to supply chain activities.  The individual chosen will also be expected to rely upon their experience and judgment to perform a variety of tasks, varying from simple to complex, either under indirect or general supervision.

The rate for this position is $15.00/hr.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Buyers with the preparation, creation and management of purchase orders
  • Support Buyers through regular contact with suppliers to resolve deliveries that were late or had shortages; process order confirmations; schedule/expedite deliveries, etc.
  • Provide support to suppliers to ensure that they have all of the information and materials required to meet expected delivery dates
  • Respond to supplier inquiries and respond/relay accordingly
  • Review incoming requisition orders to verify that they are complete with accurate terminology, and that all required approvals and specifications have been included
  • Scan, email and upload all contracts, NDAs, purchase orders and other documents as required into the SharePoint portal
  • Create purchase orders and perform buying duties when necessary
  • Perform periodic reviews of inventory levels against kanban triggers/ reorder points
  • Generate and release work orders in support of Planner and Item Master Specialist for boxed FG items, component items or album build projects
  • Prepare and maintain files and reports related to supply chain activities including the stockout list, supply chain metrics, etc.
  • Support Inventory and Warehouse Manager by updating, creating and auditing kanban cards
  • Coordinate transfers of materials from raw material or finished goods warehouse to production facility
  • Respond to Customer Service team, Production, and other internal stakeholders regarding any inquiries related to stockouts, replenishments dates, order status, etc.
  • Provide routine administrative support as required

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education related to supply chain or operations management desired
  • Minimum one to five years of relevant manufacturing experience that is related to major supply chain activities such as purchasing, inventory control, planning and scheduling, warehousing and logistics
  • Able to interact well within a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Excellent customer service disposition and follow-up skills
  • Pleasant phone manner and highly articulate; excellent verbal communication skills
  • Effective listening skills and the ability to remember/note important details
  • Discretion and maturity to understand what issues/problems should be escalated
  • Highly organized with the ability to work effectively across multiple projects
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and execute from start to finish
