Watchperson trainee/Crane Currency Division, Dalton

We’re looking for a Watchperson Trainee to join our Currency Division, based in Dalton, MA.

Responsibilities:
The Watchperson Trainee is accountable for maintaining the security of Crane & Co., Inc.’s grounds and buildings. Security responsibilities include: manning the entrance and exit gates, witnessing the proper disposal of security features, conducting walk-through security checks of all buildings and grounds, and providing escort services to outside contractors and visitors.

• Verify the proper clearance of all persons entering and leaving the grounds
• Issue a vehicle pass or verify that the vehicle has a proper sticker
• Check all deliveries or waybills
• Operate the turnstiles and the entrance/exit gates, manual and/or automatic
• Maintain communication with the Guard Station on all activities
• As this position requires the handling of highly sensitive correspondence and information, the incumbent must adhere to the strictest level of absolute confidentiality
• At the exit gate, reclaim vehicle passes on departing vehicles or verify that the proper stickers are displayed
• Clear all visitors, contractors and deliveries, through the Guard Station, with the Guard on duty
• Complete security rounds of mills, office buildings, and surrounding grounds
• Record each round by scanning sensors mounted at various locations throughout the Company
• Report any problems, including safety hazards, to the Guard on duty and scan the incident book
• Communicate with the Guard Station and/or local Police Department if needed
• Ensure that mill security policies are followed by all outside personnel
• Provide escort for outside contractors and/or visitors who have business inside the secured mill areas
• Use non-deadly force (e.g., physical confrontation skills) or firearms for self-defense or defense of another person (see policies on firearms, W13-04-2274, and use of force, W13-04-2275)
• Clear work area whenever pedestrian safety is compromised, including sweeping, shoveling and sanding of sidewalks, pathway in and out of turnstile, and steps leading to work area
• Must complete monthly Security Department training
• Ensure that the gates and gate rails are clear of foreign obstructions

Qualifications:
• PLEASE NOTE: Applicant must currently possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts Class “A” firearms permit with NO RESTRICTIONS (if there are restrictions, the restrictions must meet the approval of the Security Systems Manager)
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Strongly prefer a minimum of an Associates degree in Criminal Justice or 2-years’ experience in a Security-related position (Police Officer, Security Guard, Watchperson, etc.)
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
• Must have a good driving record for the past three years
• Must be able to read, write, keep neat and accurate records, and follow written and verbal instructions
• Must be willing and able to perform all of the physical requirements of the job in a safe manner
• Must pass certified weapons training courses, as required (see Training Outline) and have a signed Firearms & Use of Force policy on file
• Must have knowledge of basic computer skills
• Must be able to understand and follow operating/job procedures
• Must be willing to submit to random drug and alcohol testing
• Ability to adapt to act quickly, calmly, and appropriately in emergency situations
• Must be willing and able to work any shift arrangement and overtime as needed
• Must have maintained a good safety and attendance record with proven work performance in the past
The starting rate for this position is $15.57/hr. plus shift differential. Rate will increase to $17.22/hr. plus shift differential, if qualified, following 6-month training period.

General description:
• Work as a member of the horticulture team of the Berkshire Botanical
Garden in maintaining the ornamental gardens, display areas,
greenhouse collections and nurseries
• Work under the supervision of the director of horticulture or senior

Job Description:

The Advancement Office at MCLA invites applications for an Administrative Assistant to the Chief Advancement Officer (CAO).  The Administrative Assistant will help to provide support to the CAO/President of the MCLA Foundation, Inc.  and its Board of Directors, as well as to the Institutional Advancement team.   The Administrative Assistant will: answer telephone calls and email; schedule and/or make arrangements for conferences, meetings, and other similar activities; coordinate all travel arrangements for the CAO and the Director of Alumni Relations and Development; assist with managing strategic initiatives for and coordination of all fundraising events, including the capital campaign activities; compose confidential memos, reports, and letters for the CAO; manage donor acknowledgement and alumni correspondence on behalf of both the CAO and the President of MCLA; assist in the production of annual endowed fund reports; and other duties or projects as assigned.
