The College Internship Program (CIP) is a comprehensive post-secondary support program for young adults on the Autism Spectrum, with Asperger’s, ADHD and other Learning Differences. We offer full-year individualized academic, social, career and life skills support. Our Mission is to inspire independence and expand the foundation on which young adults can build happy and productive lives.

Our Berkshire Center location is currently accepting resumes for a Program Director. This senior position is primarily responsible for cultivating a learning environment that will enable our students to realize and develop their full potential. We are looking for a dynamic person to lead an office of professional special educators and manage a growing organization. In partnership with our National Office, the successful candidate will lead by example and support staff while working with our community partners through collaboration and the development of best practices.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Assume primary responsibility for the overall success of the CIP Berkshire Center by creating a dynamic and engaging experience for staff and students
  • Direct, manage and lead a complex center to ensure that the mission of the CIP is met
  • Meet with stakeholders, educational consultants, industry representatives, etc., to promote the work of CIP
  • Manage program and department teaching and learning, ensuring standards and practices that promote academic, social and employment excellence
  • Develop, implement and evaluate effective programmatic curriculum, instructional design and course assessment
  • Develop program operational systems, processes, and procedures
  • Manage and grow our independent living and learning community for our student population
  • Develop, manage, review and refine the academic, life skills, residential, social and service programs for CIP
  • Ensure that all areas and aspects of the program meet company and contractual policies and guidelines
  • Promote and manage CIP Berkshire with enthusiasm
  • Promote and establish strong internal and external business relationships
  • Represent CIP at conferences, networking events and speaking engagements as needed
  • Develop and implement long term goals and growth plan for the center

 

Skills, Education and Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Human Services, or a related Business field, Doctorate preferred
  • 5+ years of experience working in related field with at least four years in management
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, collaboration, communication, problem solving, planning, prioritizing, influencing, and organizational and team facilitation skills
  • Experience working in private school environments, working with referral sources, families, and direct services with clients and students
  • Experience working with young adults with Autism, Asperger’s or other learning differences desirable
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must be very comfortable making presentations and attending networking events
  • Published curriculum or literature for workshops, conferences, and publications preferred
  • Prior experience with marketing and/or admissions in private programs helpful
  • Experience and/or exposure to job placement/career decision and direction orientation skills training
  • Creative in the support of developing, implementing, designing, and directing new aspects of program services
  • Belief in and knowledge of the potential abilities and skills of people living with learning and attention differences, Asperger’s, high functioning autism, and related hidden disabilities
  • Must be able to adjust work schedule as required including occasional early evening and occasional weekend day
  • Some in and out of state travel required
