Title: Major and Planned Giving Officer                             Reports to: Director of Major & Planned Gifts

Summary:

The Major & Planned Giving Officer is responsible for the identification, cultivation, stewardship and solicitation of major donors appropriate for and interested in the financial support of WGBY.  This position is also responsible for communicating and behaving in a way that supports diversity and quality among coworkers and colleagues.

 

Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

·         Manage, steward, solicit and cultivate a portfolio of a minimum of 75 major and planned giving donors and prospects.  This includes personal visits, phone calls, cultivation events and mailings.

·         Work directly with the Director of Major & Planned Giving and General Manager to develop and implement strategies that acquire, renew and upgrade current WGBY Murrow Society and Leadership Circle members, Planned Giving prospects, and prospects in order to meet department revenue goals.

·         Work directly with WGBY Board of Tribunes and Murrow Society Committee to help identify prospects

·         Development and manage Moves Management models for all identified donors as well as prospects.

·         Assist department in effectively code, segment and track donor’s activities for reporting.

·         Assist in Major and Planned Giving communications to donors and prospective donors including: mail, email, on-air presence and newsletters as needed.

·         Assist in department database needs as needed.

·         Communicate and behave in a way that is free from discrimination, intolerance or harassment when interacting with coworkers, colleagues and clients.

·         Stays informed on station activities and cooperate with all departments.

·         Participate in station Membership Drives, Special/Community Events and/or activities.

·         Provides direction and leadership in such a way as to nurture, create and maintain an environment that is (1) free from discrimination, intolerance and harassment and (2) provides employees with equal access to opportunities for growth and advancement including professional development whenever possible.

·         Other reasonable related duties as assigned by the Director of Major and Planned Giving.

 

Qualification:

·  Ability to think strategically and be creative and flexible

·  Excellent organizational and planning skills

·  Highly-developed oral and written communication, phone and grammar skills

·  Three years prior experience working in a fundraising or development position; an understanding of major donor fundraising techniques is a plus

·  Ability to reliably manage a significant work load under pressure and meet tight deadlines as required

·  Knowledge of fundraising databases

·  Valid driver’s license and access to transportation.
