WATER & SEWER MAINTENANCE PERSON

DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC UTILITIES

 The city of Pittsfield is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Water and Sewer Maintenance Person. The Maintenance Person performs various skilled work in the construction, operation & maintenance of water distribution and sewage collection systems, including but not limited to: reservoirs, valves, water & sewer pipes, pumping stations, manholes, vaults etc. In addition, the candidate operates loaders, backhoes, heavy trucks, and specialized sewer cleaning equipment in the performance of duties assigned which includes snow clearance, salting, and/or sanding. Maintenance person will also perform daily servicing and maintenance on equipment assigned. The qualified candidate must possess the following:

·         Two years’ experience as a pipelayer or equivalent in the construction and/or maintenance of water distribution and sewage collection systems.

·         Two years’ experience operating heavy equipment such as trucks, snowplows, loader/backhoes, bulldozers, loaders, tractors etc.

·         Demonstrated ability to read and use drawings and utility service maps.

·         Valid Massachusetts Class B Commercial Driver’s License with air brake endorsement, and Class C Hoisting License suitable for operation of a loader & backhoe. Within six months of appointment, incumbent must obtain a tanker endorsement to the CDL, and a catch basin cleaner endorsement to the Hoisting License.

·         High School Diploma or equivalent.

Monday-Friday

40 Hours

$15.40 per hour
