NETWORK SPECIALIST
DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
Under direction of the Information Technology Manager, the Network Specialist will be responsible for the following, including but not limited to: data backup and protection, spam filter, anti-virus, terminal services, and a basic virtualization environment. They will further perform server support and administration duties, as assigned. RESPONSIBILITIES
Supports and provides routine administration of one or more of the following: VMware servers/vCenter management, Windows Servers (2003/2008/2012/Exchange and Terminal Server) Supports and maintains all aspects of the City’s Windows Active Directory infrastructure, including user account creation, group policy, and assigning permissions; in addition to maintaining vital services such as DHCP, DNS. Etc. Provides high quality results in completing work orders, trouble tickets, service requests, and network projects, which includes independent research, planning and troubleshooting. Assists with miscellaneous tasks shared by IT Support team, such as transporting and installing equipment, researching new technology, etc. Assists in identifying current and future network needs (LAN, WAN, WLAN, VoIP networks). Aids in procuring network and telecommunications hardware, software, services, and other equipment. Learn new technologies and /or obtain certifications as technologies are added and replaced. Responds in a timely manner to end user inquiries via e-mail, phone or the IT Technical Support work order system. Establishes effective working relations with other employees and contractors during the course of business Prepares clear and concise written reports, procedures and specifications, etc. Performs all other duties as required or assigned. QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required, College degree in related field preferred. One or more of the following certifications required: A+ Certification; Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE); Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA) Excellent communication skills and positive attitude Ability to multi-task with strong attention to detail In-depth knowledge of VMware, Windows Servers 2008R2/2012, Active Directory (Group policy) and Exchange 2010. Experience with Microsoft Office products, including but not limited to: Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc. Experience working with LAN/WAN, Switches, Internet and Firewalls, Security and Traffic Management.
Salary range: $47,982 – $50,398
Monday-Friday, 40 hours
