The City of Pittsfield is seeking an individual to serve as a clerk, who shall attend the Board of Health meetings once a month, scheduled for the first Wednesday of the month, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. The clerk is responsible for taking attendance and recording minutes. On occasion, there may be additional meetings scheduled as needed.

$1,500.00/yearly

Digital Press Operator – Full Time – Crane & Co.

Job Title: Digital Press Operator

Overview:

Crane is hiring! We’re looking for a Digital Press Operator to join our Stationery team, based in North Adams, MA.  This position is on a mid-shift (10:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.).  We look for bright, hard-working people who want to be a part of a world-class organization.

The Digital Press Operator fulfills personalized orders by operating a digital printer.  Additional responsibilities include the operation of a clicker, cutter, drill, and spectrophotometer.
Responsibilities:

  • Set-up and manage access to job information through both PC and Macintosh networks.  Use prepress file management, RIP and print queue software as required
  • Preflight job for digital printing and verify order matches traveler.  Work with prepress area to ensure optimal performance at digital printing
  • Ensure that image color is acceptable and make modifications as required.  Use spectrophotometer / densitometer as needed
  • Assure that the job is consistent with quality standards.   This includes copy positioning, cleanliness of the stock, and ensuring there are no print defects
  • Scan work through the ERP system as required for inventory management and productivity measurement. Oversee production / quality data collection for digital area and produce reports as required
  • Carry out advanced operator maintenance:  weekly / monthly inspection & cleaning; replace operator replaceable parts as instructed by equipment manufacturers
  • Monitor / replace press chemicals in accordance with machine maintenance & company safety requirements
  • Troubleshoot problems with digital printing equipment.  Contact equipment maintenance providers to report issues and schedule repairs
  • Perform daily (or other periodic) color calibration routines
  • Keep a log of routine maintenance, calibration and repairs / replacements made on digital equipment.   Monitor / log maintenance carried out by equipment service providers
  • Assist in implementation of new digital print technology (hardware and software) and train others where required
  • Must be willing to move up through the lines of progression
  • Must be willing to work in any Company area or location as needed
  • Must be able to travel overnight for extended periods of time for training purposes
  • Must be willing to work any shift and overtime as needed

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to read, write, keep neat and accurate records, and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Must be a proficient operator of the most advance digital printing equipment
  • Must be qualified for advanced maintenance on digital equipment (as determined by manufacturers)
  • Proficient computer user, ideally familiar with both Windows and Mac OSX environment. Prefer experience with graphics software (e.g. Quark, InDesign, Photoshop).
  • Comprehensive understanding of printing process as well as paper and ink characteristics.
  • Must understand basics of pre-press and color management
  • Strong mechanical aptitude – able to perform all routine maintenance and troubleshooting for complex digital presses.  This includes operation of test equipment, removal, troubleshooting and repair of mechanical and electrical assemblies
  • Ability to perform clerical and arithmetic skills; must be able to compute basic math problems
  • Communicates well with peers, team leaders & management both verbally and in writing
  • Able to solve problems independently
  • Acceptable color vision
  • Ability to travel for up to 1 week for necessary training.

Thermography Press Operator – Full Time – Crane & Co.

Crane is hiring! We’re looking for a Thermography Press Operator to join our Stationery team, based in North Adams, MA.  This position is on the 2nd shift (2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.).  We look for bright, hard-working people who want to be a part of a world-class organization.
Responsibilities:

  • Support requirements for production of daily orders
  • Must be able to interpret instructions on all work orders requiring engraving
  • Preventative maintenance of press, i.e., oil press and brazier daily prior to start-up, etc.
  • Must be able to follow all proper start-up steps, i.e., prepare fountain, prepare counter material for the slide, place counter slide into press, engage press for counter image, cut counter, place overlay properly, secure wooden feed board, and select correct cardboard feed board for stock item to be run
  • Press slide adjusted to attain proper and exact position of lettering on stock item and secured to assure that position remains consistent throughout the run
  • Must be able to meet quality standards for color, position, clarity of image, and all special instructions followed on work order
  • Must maintain daily maintenance of press-related materials that include changing die wipe roll and changing blanket when ink becomes caked-on or wipe is not working properly
  • Must be able to prioritize workflow daily to assure established delivery schedules are met
  • Back-up in other areas of the Department or Company as required
  • Must be able to maintain average productivity standards within Lines of Progression grade
  • Must interact in a positive manner with other employees
  • Must be able to do a line-up
  • Must be able to perform a press safety inspection
  • Use positive locking device whenever maintenance or adjustments are being made, use cut- proof gloves when cutting counters, keep area around the press clean, and change absorbent “pig sock” when it becomes saturated

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to read, write, keep neat and accurate records, and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Experience and background in operating, adjusting, or manipulating mechanical machinery or other similar equipment
  • Responsible for demonstrating a positive attitude and self-motivation, and developing and maintaining positive interaction and communication with customers, peer, subordinates, and supervisors
  • Must have good eyesight as well as the ability to distinguish a full spectrum of colors
  • Must be willing to work any shift and overtime as needed

BCC and Berkshire Natural Resource Council Family Fishing Fest.\\ Free to BCC affiliated

BCC has teamed up with Berkshire Natural Resource Council for a Family Fishing Festival, being offered FREE to BCC students, faculty, staff, alumni, and their guests this Saturday, 9/13, from 10am-2pm!

Everyone will meet at the Burbank Park Boat Launch area at Onota Lake in Pittsfield, and the instructor from Mass Wildlife will have fishing equipment if needed. This event is for all ages, and for beginners to advanced, lessons will be offered to people who would like them…
