JOB FUNCTION/PURPOSE
This position will as a role model, promote an injury free work environment through direct involvement and leadership in all aspects of the HESS Process. This position is responsible and accountable for all production-related functions in two separate facilities. Act as a mentor and assure competent training is in place and reviewed for all production employees. Be a good communicator between shop floor, management, and all other related departments. Promote Continuous Improvement and develop action plans for increased capacity, cost reduction savings, and teamwork. Review all employees without bias and develop plans to increase job performance individually. Be an agent of change.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES/OBJECTIVES
· Identifies needed change and makes recommendations — finds solutions.
· Participate in the interview and selection process for all hourly employee’s regardless of beginning shift assignment.
· Investigate employee work related behaviors and, in conjunction with Plant Manager and Human Resources Manager, makes decision for appropriate action following progressive disciplinary practices.
· Schedule changes on extrusion lines due to processing issues.
· Promotion in skill levels.
· Decisions on safety issues including shutting equipment down for unscheduled PM’s if needed.
· Setting vacation schedules to ensure smooth production throughout the year.
· Ability to make decisions on your own based on sound judgement with little supervision or direction from management.
· Proactively develops a positive employee relation’s climate.
· Coaches, counsels, manages, leads, and directs personnel in appropriate business assignments relative to changing priorities, sense of urgency and utilization of multiple skill sets.
· Demonstrates high level of facilitation skills to reach consensus; works toward win-win solutions for business benefit.
· Meets customer expectations and continuously improves efficiency in consultation with internal departments and external resources.
· Perform daily floor management and utilize Lean Six Sigma processes to eliminate waste.
· Know, understand and execute all company policies in regard to self and staff.
· Support and execute needs to meet and maintain Class A ERP
· Maintain high housekeeping standards to promote injury free environment.
· Participate with and /or lead Continuous Improvement Teams.
· Seek cost reductions, capacity improvements and implement changes to meet company goals.
· Set “stretch” (SMART) but attainable goals for all members of work team.
· Be a communication leader through shift, sub-HESS, and management meetings.
· Mentor, coach, and set training tools in place to continually improve staff’s capabilities and job performance.
· Maintain good record keeping in relationship to, quality, disciplinary issues, PMP’s, TMW transactions.
· Maintain knowledge of all related IT systems involved with job function, specifically pertaining to Shop Floor Reporting.
· Ensure’s employees are compliant to all required policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma minimum
Prefer College Bachelor degree
5 years related experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
OTHER SKILLS
HARD SKILLS
Working knowledge of computers and proficiency with software applications including: Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, SAP
Ability to write comprehensive reports
