Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

To perform work related to the collection, analysis and reporting of data within the accounting function.  This includes such work as the compilation, review and interpretation of data to produce:   journal entries, the trial balance, income statements, balance sheets, the burden ledger, reconciliation of accounts, assist with the consolidation, and complete other financial reporting as requested.

Responsibilities:

  • Applies accounting techniques and standards to the preparation, analysis and verification of financial documents.         
  • Coordinates and collaborates with internal and external customers to secure required financial data for month-end closings. 
  • Ensures that accurate and timely financial records are maintained in compliance with corporate and government requirements as well as with appropriate FASB and GAAP treatment.
  • Coordinates accounting activity into the general ledger. 
  • Reviews standard monthly financial statements/reporting packages for company including the balance sheet and income statements, Crane fund, burden reports, inventory and variances, etc.    
  • Coordinates and collaborates with internal and external customers to produce/interpret required data.  
  • Ensures accuracy/completeness of generated reports. 
  • Enables senior management to monitor operational performance and make informed business decisions.
  • Works directly with bank representatives to resolve account issues, ensure proper reconciliations and reflect correct balances in the general ledger.      
  • Collaborates with bank representatives to gather/interpret required data.    
  • Ensures all account balances are auditable, agree to the general ledger and reflect proper safeguards.
  • Researches, analyzes and interprets issues, differences and inconsistencies within the general ledger.  
  • Takes independent action and/or works with appropriate individual to acquire data or resolve issue.
  • Ensures accurate and complete data is provided to person making inquiry.
  • Provides auditors with historical and procedural documentation related to accounting issues coupled with detailed explanations.  
  • Communicates and clarifies relevant issues directly with audit staff. 
  • Ensures compliance with federal and state regulations as well as accounting standards.


Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience required.
  • Working knowledge of General Ledger accounts, accounting/financial statements.
  • Working knowledge of Accounting systems, PC environment and spreadsheets.
  • Understanding of integrated accounting statements.
  • Thorough knowledge of financial statement presentation and consolidation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the Treasury department.
