College Entry Essay – Google Docs

This was the essay that I wrote back in high school to show colleges who I was, what I had done during my time at Wahconah, and what my future plans looked like, so I could hopefully get accepted and I still think it holds relevance today. I may have not been accepted into many colleges, or even had a lot of colleges that I was seriously looking into, but I still think I know where I want to be. The resume mentions the many opportunities that I had in high school such as the National Business Honor Society, Be Strong, or National Society of High School Scholars all of which would be incredible achievements on their own, but was even more amazing considering that doctors said I would need an I.E.P through my entire academic career. Another one of the things that I feel like this essay shows is something I have been doing for a long time: proving people wrong. When I was diagnosed with Autism when I was three many people said that I was going to struggle in school, that I was always going to need an I.E.P, and yet I am here today still moving forward and staying strong. My mom was told that I would always need a counselor and an I.E.P and when I told my teachers that I didn’t think that I needed it, they agreed and my Mom was very happy that I was the one to make that decision. While I do have Autism I don’t feel like it truly defines who I am, like it’s just a piece of my life, a small piece in this puzzle that is my story. I have had a lot of help over the years, my family has been a huge help not only just encouraging me but also being there when I struggle. They always want me to succeed and I never want to let them down. I think by just trying to do my best work, they are always proud of me. Even if I need help as long as I tell them that I need it they will try to help me find what ways work the best for me.

Skills

I was a part of my high school unified track and field program as well as the unified basketball program these taught me important skills such as inclusion. They also taught me other skills like being okay with not winning all of the time, you are going to stumble and fall but if you get back up you can find that you can always be better than you were before. I also took a lot of programming-based classes such as Robotics and Video Game design. I am not super proficient in programming but I have a very good understanding of how it is supposed to work. I don’t know if I would like programming a lot but I would love to build robots, actually building them is really enjoyable, It might be a career that I would want to follow. I also like to cook but I am more of someone who has application for experimentation at home rather, so I might not pursue this as my career of choice, but I do want to still have this as an option for a path I would want to go down. Throughout this first semester, I have actually found that I have a love for writing, and I would like to keep doing it maybe as a side hobby, I don’t know if I could do it as my living, but I really enjoy writing about topics that really interest me. Though one of my problems when it comes to writing is my spelling and grammar even with some tools to help reduce it as much as possible I still struggle with grammar not as much with spelling, but that is okay we won’t always be able to have every single skill mastered we always need to have a few that we are not as good with so we strive to be better and improve them. I know that I am not proficient in every skill I try to understand but the ones that I do try to understand I will always try to improve even if at first, I am absolutely terrible at them.

Unified as Champions Final- Google Docs

This was an Assignment I created for Composition it detailed my time in my high school’s unified sports teams I felt great about making this essay and it gives you a glimpse into who I am. The memoir shows you how far I came with the teams and it was a good start for my composition for my first semester. When I was originally doing this assignment I was going to write an essay about my trip to Cape Cod over the summer and mention how much of it was affected by Covid but I decide against it because in high school I wrote a lot of essays about my vacations plus nothing super eventful happened that was worth an entire essay.

Compare and Contrast Final Draft- Google Docs

Another assignment from my composition class this year, this time comparing the difference between Boston and New York, I am very passionate about sports, especially Boston sports, I am a huge Patriots fan and I have been to Gillette Stadium six times and to Fenway once I had fun writing this essay even if most of it was me making fun of New York sports teams for being more abundant and yet never doing anything with the chances that they have.

Definition Essay – Google Docs

In this essay, I tried to explain imagination in my own words it was a topic that I was very interested in writing about simply because it was my most unique essay topic yet.  I feel like I did it justice and I would hopefully like an essay like this again. Taking a single word and fleshing it out to an extent like that is something I feel like I should do more often. Oh, by the way, the “famous candy maker” I referred to is Willy Wonka I just thought I should mention that.

Argument Essay – Google Docs

I had recently found out a lot about the history of theme parks and their attractions so I thought that it would be fun to write about them and specifically how Universal would surpass Disney in terms of theme parks, maybe not now but within a few years. some of the points I made were about how Disney’s international parks have had multiple problems, the failure of Califonia Adventure and its terrible re-theming, and how Universal has had overall better experiences at their parks.

About Me

Hello, my name is Tony Marra and I am 19 years old, I am the youngest in my family I have an older sister and an older brother, both my brother and I have Autism. I always try to work hard even if I don’t always seem like I show it. I graduated from Wahconah Reginal High School as part of the Class of 2021 and I was part of the National Business Honor Society and the National Society of High School Scholars. I am at Berkshire Community College for a degree in Liberal arts. I am also working part-time at Market 32. The reason I am coming for this degree is that I have a lot of different ideas on what I can do, like robotics or culinary arts, but I don’t know which of these paths I should seriously pursue. but I am hoping that my time at BCC will help me find what career path I should go down, even if it is a path that I haven’t considered before. Once I figure out where I am going, I will try to follow the path no matter where it leads me, whether staying here in Berkshire County or traveling somewhere else in the country or even the world. I am not opposed to transferring, as long as the career that I am going for is at that college. But I don’t want to travel too far away from home even if it is a few hours away from home I would at least want to stay fairly local. One of my main inspirations is my family, they all have worked hard to be where they are right now and they have pushed me to do the same, even if I struggle I know I can talk to them or lean on them for help. I have Autism, specifically what used to know as Asperger’s syndrome. I don’t feel like it defines me at all and is just a single part of me that makes me unique. I have always been doing one thing: Proving people wrong!
