Berkshire County Forecast-Friday, September 13

Summary: It should be a quiet weekend weatherwise as surface high pressure builds in behind last nights cold front. There should be considerable sunshine both days with pleasant and more seasonably cool temperatures and much lower humidity than the past few days. A cool front will pass through late Sunday night into Monday morning with only a few scattered showers (no repeat of our recent bouts of thunderstorms) as the front is relatively weak and it will be lifting relatively stable cool, dry air. Another surface high pressure system will build over the region behind this frontal passage and dominate our weather for a good part of next week. As a result, the week should feature dry conditions with seasonable temperatures, with daytime high temperatures mostly in the 60s.

Friday Night

Mostly cloudy this evening with some lingering scattered light showers and sprinkles. Partial clearing after midnight. Probability of precipitation this evening 20%.

Low temperatures in the mid to upper 40s.

Northwest winds at 5-10 mph.

Saturday

Some lingering cloudiness early in the morning. Skies should clear fairly rapidly and most of the morning should be mostly sunny. There will be some cumulus clouds (puffy, fair weather clouds) developing during the afternoon but there should be more sun than clouds.

High temperatures in the  low to mid 60s in Pittsfield, Adams, North Adams and Williamstown, mid 60s in Great Barrington and Sheffield and near 60 to low 60s over the elevated terrain and hilltowns depending on elevation.

Northwest winds at 10-15 mph in the morning, diminishing during the afternoon and becoming light and variable by sunset.

Saturday Night

Clear, calm and seasonably chilly.

Low temperatures falling to near 40 countywide by morning.

Calm winds.

Sunday

Periods of thin high and mid-level clouds will dim the sun from time to time but, otherwise, it should be mostly sunny.

It will be slightly milder than Saturday with high temperatures in the mid to upper 60s in Pittsfield, Adams, North Adams and Williamstown, upper 60s to near 70 in Great Barrington and Sheffield and the low to mid 60s over the elevated terrain and hilltowns.

Light and variable winds in the morning becoming light southwesterly during the afternoon.
