Dear all,

First, we would like to thank each and every one of you for your incredible contributions, participation, and enthusiasm throughout this week of First-Generation Celebration. It has been a fantastic set of events, gatherings and celebration.

Second, I would like to thank in particular all those of you who sent us your First-Generation stories, pictures, “six-word stories”, and videos. In recognition of your being with us these days, and your participation, we are proud to announce the following prize winners:

  • In the category of “best story”: Nadia Bourzgui wins a $100 prize! See story here.
    • From the BCC writing center: “Nadia Bourzgui talks about the lessons they learnt, not only at home but in a new environment, as well as the value that the help of others has when it comes to success. Where they started, where they went, and where they are now is explained simply and the message to not give up, to persevere, is clear.”
  • In the category of “best six-word story”: Madisyn Manzella wins a $50 prize! See story here.
