Inspired by the use of the Flip Video in Kathy Kessler and Lois Cooper’s summer MEOP course, the CTL purchased one. Unbelieveable! This small, handheld video/audio recorder can record up to 60 minutes of video with literally the press of a button. Then, a USB port (same connection as a flash drive) can be inserted into your computer. A very easy-to-use software for the Flip Video automatically downloads, and you can do simple edits and then save your video.
The flip video will allow the capture of instructor course introductions, lecturettes, student presentations, and myriad other uses. As is well known, multimedia in courses assists visual learners, promotes active learning, and for the millenial generation creates a link between learning and daily “digital” life. It is very easy and fun to use, as we saw at the recent CyberCafe in the CTL. Stay posted for workshops introducting the Flip Video!
