Grant Writer

Lenco is seeking a self-motivated and energetic Grant Writer to work in our US Law Enforcement & Government Sales Department.  Primary responsibilities include researching Federal Grant opportunities, speaking with Law Enforcement customers and writing grant narratives.  This position requires excellent communications, research and writing skills, as well as the ability to work well under pressure and in a fast paced environment.  Qualified candidates should also possess computer skills (Microsoft Office), database management experience and customer service experience

9-5:30pm, lunch 12-12:30pm, Monday through Friday

Responsibilities:

  • Learn the Lenco product line consisting of the BEAR and BearCat; their options, variants and uses.  This information would be necessary to help describe the features & benefits of the product to potential customers.
  • Learn the DHS Grant Funding Process.  This includes understanding the criteria and guidelines for equipment purchased under Homeland Security and other Law Enforcement Grants.
  • Work with potential customers in Law Enforcement agencies to help identify sources of grant funding and help them prepare their grant packages for submission.
  • Telephone contact and email contact with Law Enforcement personnel will be a daily, integral part of the position.  A friendly, courteous and professional manner is a must.
  • Excellent communication skills required, both verbally and written.  Must have a desire to help LE agencies achieve their goal of getting funded for a vehicle.
  • Some travel required to Industry Trade Shows for an approximate 3-day trip will be required.  Potentially 6-10 Shows per year.  It is possible some international travel may be required; therefore, a passport will be necessary.
  • Will work closely with Lenco Government Sales Manager to follow up on potential customers in the grant funding cycle.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Internet will be a daily part of the position.
  • Familiarity with federal, state and private sectors and process.
  • Stay up to date on authorized equipment list.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent writing skills creating narratives that are clear, concise, structured and compelling.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, planning and organization skills.
  • Strategic and original thinking, ability to demonstrate creative problem solving, strong judgement and decision-making skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication, English,  writing or similar field.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well in a team environment and individually

Playground Leaders

The City of Pittsfield’s Recreation Department is seeking candidates to fill seasonal positions as Playground Leaders. The Playground Leaders are responsible for administering and supervising the summer playground program in their designated park. Responsibilities include: assuring adequate supplies and materials are available for program implementation, implementing a daily structured program, supervising and coexisting with program attendees, reporting problems or issues to the supervisor, preparing a year end program evaluation, attending program staff meetings, and trainings as directed by the supervisor. Leaders are also responsible for keeping the park grounds clean of all debris, and assisting in keeping the restrooms and storage areas clean and presentable.

Candidates must be capable of working outside (in sometimes inclement weather), moving freely through the park, and interacting with the program attendees. Must be capable of lifting/carrying 25 pounds.

Youth Coordinator

Ability to relate to youth as a peer. Provide outreach, group facilitation and coordination of programing for area youth, youth oriented communities and organizations, including those involved with juvenile justice system; must have knowledge of LGBTQ  youth.  Competitive pay rate.

Minimum HS or GED.
Part-time 10 hours/week, some nights and weekends.
