Narrative Essay On my college history.

I would say that my college history is decent at best within the past 5 years, I have taken courses that I find interesting, along with courses that are required for graduation, and may have held no interest to me.

Quite a few classes that I do remember, thought mostly because I had an interest in them did teach me a few things that I otherwise would not have known or learned about unless I had some interest for that develop at a later date.

One such class that I had an actual interest in and was required was a writing class, and while it was a “basic writing” class, most of the work done was creative writing, and I did have, and still do have an interest in creative writing, I simply lack the time. Something that I had learned from this  class was that while you can come up with a story you should review it and re read it yourself because often times you will spot things you not only may not remember putting into the story, but errors as well, not just spelling errors but duplicate words and basic grammar.

Simple things can often become overlooked due to you simply moving and going along with that you are doing, this can be applied not just to writing but to other things in life as well. How often do you place something down in one room and then immediately forget where you put it, and when you find it again wonder how it got there.

Courses I learned more from, in my own opinion are the courses I held and interest in, a great example of this would be the Intro to forensic science that I took in late 2042. It was certainly more interesting than other courses that I had taken, especially those that I 1held little interest within. After all if you have a slight interest in something, it will hold more of your attention. Though that cannot be said for all people as each and every person is different, but personally if I have an interest towards it, I will have a better time and learn more from it.

The intro to forensic science that I took taught me things that I had otherwise only gathered from random posts on the internet and TV shows, which to be honest most of those TV shows are completely wrong with how they portray how they work in that field as well as how the evidence is found, gathered or collected. Even how they work to investigate these is often just TV magic and not real. There is even today so little evidence gathered from certain aspect of a crime scene that you have to look at every single thing and compile it all together to even have a chance at trying to figure out who did what and where. Unless of course there is clear camera footage, and most cameras are actually quite terrible at their job.

Looking at the courses I have listed here and those that I have not, while I may have an interest in these, and learned from them. There are aspects of them that I simply do not like, nor could I see doing in say a job, for example. I could become a police officer, sure, but working on forensics and crime scenes, I am not really into that idea, and the reasoning is actually simple, it’s gross. I do not want to come into contact with all the sorts of things you would see in that field, and sure there would be times you would not have any of that to deal with, but there would be those time that you do, and those times would stand out much more than those that did not.

Now how has my learning progressed from when I started college to now? Well, I can say I have learned quite a bit, but I have also forgotten quite a bit of which has been taught to me. Math for an example does not stick with me unfortunately.

Over all I would say that college has had an impression on me, and while I certainly did learn new things, I learned more things that I had previous not known which are not new and have been around for longer than I have been alive.

Growth and knowledge are often said to go hand in hand, but that is not always the case, if you don’t remember what you have learned, can you say that you have grown from it?

So the next time you think about what you have learned, can you remember everything that you have learned? And what have you used the most versus what have you not used at all, or at the very least.
