One of my pieces of writing that I personally believe represents me the best as a student is a reflection on my career exploration process. The course that it is from is Intro to Liberal Arts, which was a class that I took at Berkshire Community College in the spring of 2022. Before writing the reflection, we were tasked with taking a career assessment called the “Focus 2 self-assessment.” The assessment revealed my personal strengths and weaknesses when it comes to careers. Then, I met with my job coach at Berkshire Community College to discuss my results. We determined the reasons for my top three strengths and what careers would be beneficial for me based on my strong suits. The reflection explains what I do well in when it comes to careers, why I do well in these areas, and what types of jobs I would work well in. The reason why I chose the reflection as a writing sample was because I got an A+ on it. Also, One of the essential skills that was learned in Intro to Liberal Arts was writing an excellent essay, and that piece of work showed that I did an amazing job learning how to write properly. In addition, exploring careers was taught in the course, and the essay showed that I did an amazing job determining what industry I would work best in. Finally, during the process I had to think critically about where I would work best based on my top three strengths. The reflection indicated that I thought carefully about the careers that suit me best based on my strengths. Critical thinking was another important skill that we learned in Intro to Liberal Arts, so I was able to use it in my piece of writing. The essay determined that I successfully learned how to critically think which is not only important in school. It is important when at jobs and in public.
