Berkshire County Forecast – Wednesday, October 26

The following forecast is provided Kate Bohner, in conjunction with theĀ  instructor, as part of lab work for the Introduction to Meteorology course:

Wednesday

Overcast with occasional light rain, tapering off later in the afternoon. Probability of precipitation 90%.

Cool, with high temperatures in the mid 40s.

Light southerly winds.

Wednesday Night

Overcast with a chance of light rain. A steady light rain likely developing by morning. Probability of precipitation 60%.

Temperatures dropping to the mid to upper 30s by morning.

Winds light, becoming northeast by morning.

Thursday

A snow/rain mix will gradually change to all snow by late afternoon. The changeover will occur from north to south and in the higher elevations first. For example, northern hilltowns will see a changeover during the morning but it will probably not change over in Great Barrington until late afternoon. Snowfall totals by dark will range from a slushy accumulation of less than an inch in low elevations to the south to as much as 2 – 4 inches in the hilltowns in central and northern Berkshire. Probability of precipitation 90%.

Temperatures falling into the low 30s by late in the day.

Winds northeast at 5-10 miles per hour.

Thursday Night

Snow, tapering off by midnight. Total accumulations ranging from 1-3 inches in the lower elevations to as much as 4-8 inches in the high terrain. Probability of precipitation 90%.

Cold with temperatures falling into the mid 20s by morning.

Winds northeast, shifting to northwest after midnight at 5-10 miles per hour.

Friday

Partly cloudy and cold.

High temperatures near 40.

Northwest wind at 5-10 miles per hour.
