Student Work Examples – Writing

Here is a selection of writing pieces I’ve done over the years for BCC. I’ve come a long way as a writer since completing Composition I in 2012. It’s interesting to see how my tone of voice develops from one focused on entertainment to one more suitable for academics in my essay work. Let’s Get Ready to Rumble!! is a key example of using an inappropriately creative tone for a standard compare and contrast essay, especially given the sensitive content being discussed. (Though I still have a certain fondness for it, in spite of my teacher’s equally inappropriately critical response.)

Of all of these, I’m most proud of the research essay I did for Ideas of Physics. The course itself was essentially an introductory physics class with a focus on the concepts of physics instead of math. The professor assigned us topics to research based on our interests, and with my permission, he assigned me a topic that was much more complicated than anything we covered in class. The resulting paper was one of the hardest assignments I’ve ever completed, and also the most rewarding.
