Course Design Resources

Within these pages, you will find resources to help you reflect and plan in how you design your courses. From holistic student-centered frameworks such as Universal Design for Learning and Backwards Design, to specific inclusive strategies such as the Transparency and Learning and Teaching (TILT) approach to designing assignments, the approaches here will move you forward in designing and revising your courses.

If you are unsure where to begin, we suggest beginning with Backward Design. It asks you to reflect on what you want students to learn in your class (what are you student learning outcomes). Identifying those first, then plotting out to see how your selected course materials, class activities and assignments all build to what you want students to learn, will ensure that your course is designed holistically to serve students!
