By midnight, the clouds had increased such that any hope of capturing the KP8 plus auroras had diminished to a bright spot of diffused colorless light.   So I decided to leave Plainfield pond.  I had to work in a few hours anyway, so I thought I would get a little shut-eye and be happy with the images I was able to capture there.  On my way westward, I decided to take a little detour to Cheshire MA and thought, I’ll just have a look for a few more minutes.  Spoiler alert:  The sky cleared and I remained there for a couple more hours.   Although the auroras weren’t quite as intense as they were in under the mostly overcast skies in Plainfield, the aurora displays at Cheshire Lake were simply breathtaking; with their moody shifts of yellow, blue, green, red and purple. Like watching curtains move to the rhythms of the electric breeze.
