Wait…What Day Is It?

Welcome back readers and yes, it is Wednesday.  I realize being at home for days on end and out of our normal routines has made it difficult to even remember what day of the week it is for some of us.  With all the anxiety and uncertainty of our current times, who can even focus on basic things and now we are suppose do work and be productive? Mother working while holding baby   You may also be dealing with trying to work or do classes from home in addition to caring for your children at the same time, which let’s admit is also quite stressful.  This is new territory for us all and remember no ones perfect. There is no one magic answer on how to navigate all of our responsibilities from home during this time so, try to practice self-compassion.

When you feel stressed while working from home remember, you can always take a pause and focus on your breath. This can help you relax, recharge and regain your focus.

While we are practicing social distancing and sheltering in place, it can be hard to maintain a schedule for working from home, doing classes online and possibly caring for a family.  Maybe time management and organizational skills are not your strong point and the whole idea of getting any kind of productive work done during this time seems just too stressful.  How do you manage your time, prioritize work deadlines and course assignments and take care of your of yourself?  The video below offers some great tips for to help you find some balance as we all learn to adjust to our new normal.

All these changes in our daily lives can be confusing and overwhelming, please know you are certainly not alone in these feelings.  Many people are feeling this way and it can be helpful towards our mood to get together with others, remotely of course, to support one another.

Supporting friends and family through social media, email, video chat and phone calls can make us all feel less alone and isolated during the coming weeks as we all spend more time living our lives from our home offices or kitchen counters.

We will get through this turbulent time and remember, you can always take a moment to take a few slow deep breaths in and out, relax your body and check in with yourself when you feel stressed.  It’s okay to take time to de-stress when things get overwhelming and there are a lot of creative ways to do so.  Watch a funny movie, make a TikTok video like @ciara, dance around the house to a dance party on Instagram with @dnice, watch Ellen DeGeneres @theellenshow call her famous friends and build LEGOs or you can take a dance class with Debbie Allen @therealdebbieallen.  You could bake cookies with your family, play a board game, read a book or sing along to music videos, like the one below!

Trying to stay positive with all that’s going on around us can be difficult, yet not impossible. Taking a few minutes everyday to do something that makes you smile or laugh can really help reduce anxiety and stress as well has help you maintain a positive attitude.
