Tranquil Technology Tuesday

Happy Tuesday to you all! Hope you are all doing your best to stay positive and healthy out there. With all this time on our hands (hopefully freshly washed) we are turning to technology and media to tick away the hours and escape the boredom. Whether it be scrolling through your Instagram or twitter feed, posting a dance video on TikTok, doing school work online or video chatting with a friend, you need to have some level of comfort with navigating technology to be able to communicate and stay connected. Lady on ComputerThis can bring stress and anxiety to many people who may not be tech savvy and can feel very overwhelming. This often cause people to give up on themselves and in a time of social distancing we need to help one another stay connected in anyway we can. I understand this and see how quickly someone can get overwhelmed with new technology in these stressful times.

Don’t panic when it come to technology, just pause and take a breath.

In an effort to help ease some of your fears about using new and unfamiliar technology I paired with Berkshire Community College’s own Christian Tenczar, (Coordinator of Academic Computing in the Digital Commons) to help you feel less anxious about using technology to your advantage in these quickly evolving times. In his video below he discusses some tips to navigate some basic technologies you may need to use in the coming days with more confidence and less stress.

Staying connected with friends and family is important in these days of social distancing. Using technology to bring you and your loved ones together in real time can reduce stress, loneliness and anxiety.

If you find yourself using programs you have never used before, you feel stressed, or possibly to much social media has you feeling anxious, there is help out there. Below is a mindfulness meditation video to help you take a break and regain your focus when the Internet becomes too overwhelming or setting up new technology is causing you stress. By taking 2 minutes to watch this video and focus on your breath, you can reduce your anxiety and regain your focus. Take the next few minutes to relax in your chair, rest your hands in your lap and let yourself just focus on the video. If you find your mind wandering, just gently bring it back to the video without judgement.

I hope these videos have helped bring you some information and peace to your Tuesday. If we all stay connected we can get through these uncertain times with less stress and loneliness.
