Berkshire County Forecast – Tuesday, March 20

The following forecast is provided by Kathryn Benner, in conjunction with the  instructor, as part of lab work for the Introduction to Meteorology course:

Summary: Fair and unseasonably warm weather, with record high temperatures, will continue throughout the forecast period as the Bermuda High, which is stronger and further north than usual, continues to dominate our weather. It will turn a bit cooler, but still warmer than normal, on Friday following the passage of a weak cold front on Thursday night.

Tuesday Night

Clear, calm and unseasonably mild.

Low temperatures in the mid to upper 40s.

Wednesday

Mostly sunny and unseasonably warm.

Record high temperatures generally in the mid 70s, with some upper 70s in the lower elevations and lower 70s in the hilltowns.

Light southwesterly winds.

Wednesday Night

Clear, calm and unseasonably mild.

Low temperatures near 50.

Thursday

Mostly sunny and even a little warmer.

There will, once again, be record high temperatures, near 80 in most locations with some mid to upper 70s in the hilltowns.

Southwest winds at 5-10 mph.

Thursday Night

Partly to mostly cloudy and remaining mild. Slight chance of a light rain shower or sprinkle.

Low temperatures in the low 50s.

Light southwest winds shifting to northwest after midnight.

Friday

Partly sunny, breezy and cooler, but still unseasonably mild.

High temperature in the mid 60s with upper 60s in the lower elevations of South County and low 60s in the hilltowns.

Northwest winds at 5-15 mph.
