Berkshire County Forecast – Wednesday, November 9

The following forecast is provided by Jessie Gilligan, in conjunction with the  instructor, as part of lab work for the Introduction to Meteorology course:

Summary:

Following an unseasonably warm day today a cold front will approach from the west tonight and tomorrow. Clouds will increase followed by a period of rain or showers as the cold front passes late tomorrow afternoon and evening. It will turn significantly colder and windy with scattered snow showers on Friday.

Wednesday

Sunny and unseasonably warm.

High in the upper 60s.

Southerly winds at 5-15 mph.

Wednesday Night

Increasing cloudiness and mild. Slight chance of a shower toward morning. Probability of precipitation 20%.

Low temperatures near 50.

Light southerly winds.

Thursday

Cloudy and cooler. There is a chance of a shower for most of the day with a period of showers or rain likely late in the afternoon. Probability of precipitation 30% becoming 60% by late afternoon.

High temperature in the mid to upper 50s.

Southwest winds shifting to northwest late in the afternoon at 5-10 mph.

Thursday Night

A period of showers or rain is likely, ending by midnight. Probability of precipitation 70%.

Temperatures falling into the mid 30s by morning.

Northwest wind increasing to 10-20 mph by morning.

Friday

Mostly cloudy windy and colder. Scattered snow showers and flurries. Probability of precipitation 50%.  Little or no snow accumulation.

Temperatures holding steady in the mid 30s in most areas, low 30s in the hilltowns and upper 30s in south county.

Northwest wind 15-25 mph with gusts to 40 mph. Stronger gusts are likely in the higher terrain.
