Following up on Part 1, let’s explore the hashtag (#). Hashtags are used before keywords in a tweet to allow that keyword to be more searchable. So, if you search Twitter using the hashtag “#moodle,” it will turn up every tweet that includes “#moodle.” This is a very popular method of linking tweets. Again, you can search these tweets without ever having created an account on Twitter. Let’s try that “#moodle” example:
As you can see, “#moodle” is a very broad term. How about something more specific like “#civilwar”? That seems a bit more useful. Stay tuned for further uses of Twitter, but next time you’ll have to create an account!
