I think Shibuya University in Japan embodies many of these constructivist principles. A free university that awards no degrees is probably not, however, the final answer, but I wonder if educational institutions couldn’t use a similar approach to build name recognition and create interest in their communities. I could imagine that free, entertaining, informal short classes or lectures on philosophy, literature, science, etc. could inspire people to want to learn more and sign up for more formal education.
